What shall I do MCSE or MCSA? What is the difference?

The MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certification is a prerequisite for earning the MCSE: Messaging, the MCSE: Private Cloud certification, MCSE: Server Infrastructure certification, MCSE: Sharepoint or the MCSE: Desktop Infrastructure certification.

The Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) is an entry-level Microsoft certification that validates the knowledge and skills an entry-level IT professional will learn in the first year working with a Microsoft product

MCSE is expert-level and validates your ability to work with Microsoft technologies. Microsoft offers MCSE certifications in data management, virtualization, productivity, cloud technologies, and networking

The difference between MCSE & MCSA is listed below:

  • MCSE stands for Microsoft Certified Solution Expert, where as MCSA stands for Microsoft Certified Solution Associate.
  • MCSE trains you to be a systems engineer while MCSA trains you to be a systems administrator.
  • MCSE have 5 modules: designing , planning, solution, troubleshooting & administrator, where as MCSA have 3 modules : Installation, storage & compute.
  • MCSA is easier to get than MCSE.
  • Job Position for MCSE is L2 & L3 level, where as Job position for MCSA is L0 & L1 level position.
  • Jobs related to MCSE have bigger salaries compared to MCSA.

If you want higher salary then you can go with MCSE certification. But as you know now MCSE is a Expert level certification, so first you have to go for MCSA which is associate or entry level certification.
